Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

General guidelines for submission of papers to the Anuario.

Papers submitted must be unpublished and original, i.e., they must not have been submitted to another publication for refereeing.  Papers written in either Spanish or Portuguese will be accepted.

Evaluation process:

Firstly, the Editorial Team of the journal must approve the pertinence of the article received. Then, the manuscript will be sent to two external reviewers based on thematic affinity criteria (double-blind refereeing system). Acceptance of the article will depend on the recommendation of the reviewers, who will suggest, if necessary, adjustments and/or modifications for its publication.

A wait period of 6 months after the submission of the article the first response with the results of the evaluation, and a period of approximately one year between the submission of the article and its publication.

The journal ensures that at least one of the two evaluations will be carried out by an external and/or foreign person.

Instructions for submitting papers and uploading them to the system

Papers submitted that do not meet the requirements specified below will not be considered for evaluation.

Papers must be submitted in Calibri font size 12, single-spaced, and with the following page layout: left and right margins of 2.5 cm. and bottom and top margins of 3 cm. A4 paper size. Pages should be numbered.

The recommended length of submissions is as follows:

- articles, essays and interviews, between 40,000 and 60,000 characters including spaces.

- reviews (of events, bibliographical, master's and doctoral theses) up to 10,000 characters including spaces.

Important: include a cover page containing the following data:

 

Title of the article in the language of the text: it should be representative of the content, if possible no longer than 80 characters, including subtitles.

Title translated into English: it should be representative of the content, if possible no longer than 80 characters, including subtitles.

Full name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s) and a brief CV (resume) of no more than 80 words, including education, academic affiliation, city, country and e-mail address.

Authors' affiliation: the institution, city and country must be included.

ORCID number must be included. If you do not have it, we ask that you create it and, if it is outdated, we ask you to update it.

Articles and dossier articles

Unpublished analytical text presenting the results of research work and/or theoretical-methodological reflection. The text must meet the standards for publication, with up to 40,000 characters including spaces, in Calibri font size 12, single spacing, and with the following page layout: left and right margins of 2.5 cm. and bottom and top margins of 3 cm. A4 paper size. Pages should be numbered. The article must be submitted following the guidelines of this template.

Include a summary in either Spanish or Portuguese and in English, no longer than 1800 characters including spaces, and a maximum of 5 keywords in both languages.

The anonymity of authorship must be guaranteed in the content of the text.

Reviews

- All reviews (of events, bibliography or thesis) should be up to 10,000 characters including spaces.

- They must comply with the general format of the instructions for authors: font size 12, single-spaced and with the following page layout: left and right margins of 2.5 cm. and bottom and top margins of 3 cm. A4 paper size. Pages should be numbered.

- Include a CV (resume) of a maximum length of 850 characters including spaces and specifying: the degrees obtained, indicating the granting institutions (without using acronyms), the current institutional affiliation, specifying the function performed (teacher, researcher, scholarship holder, etc.) and a contact e-mail address. The CV (resume) should be incorporated in a footnote.

a) Reviews of Events: Up to 10,000 characters including spaces.

Include as title the event data: name, organizing institution, place and date.  Describe the call for the event, its purposes, working areas and groups results and other information that the author considers pertinent. A review of this type implies a description of the academic event (Seminar, Conference, Congress, Symposium, etc.) highlighting the discussions held there and the main contributions to the field of study of the History of Education.

b) Bibliographical Reviews: Up to 10,000 characters including spaces.

Use as title the complete publishing data of the publication following the rules of the Journal and including number of pages and ISBN. In the footer, add the link to the publication if it is available online. A bibliographic review implies a concise and succinct description of the content, incorporating a critical and constructive evaluation of the text, highlighting its structure and the main contributions it provides to the field of study of the History of Education.

c) Reviews of Master's and Doctoral Theses: Up to 10,000 characters including spaces.

Include as a title the name of the thesis and the author's name. Add in the footer the type of thesis reviewed (master's or doctoral), the disciplinary field in which it is registered and the name of the institution where it was carried out, the name of the director and/or co-director, date of defence and grade obtained. A thesis review entails the description of the research in general, the methodology used, the main findings, the originality of the work with historical sources and the contributions of the research to the field of study of the History of Education. It is suggested that the review should not be a summary of the thesis that replicates the subtitles of the original research (theoretical framework, methodology, etc.).

Notes, citations and bibliography:

Beginning with the next issue (25.1), the Yearbook of the History of Education will use APA 7th edition format for citations, bibliography and footnotes.

Bibliographical references should be footnoted and should be in APA 7th Edition format. They should be used when strictly necessary to provide complementary information to the text.

For the citation of documentary sources:

Unpublished sources should be identified as clearly as possible in a footnote. The authorship, if any, is cited first; if it does not exist, the document is cited, then the date, the location of the source, the repository, and the geographic location of the repository. In subsequent citations of the same source, the data of the repository and its geographic location are not included.

In the case of material from physical archives, this format should be taken into account:

Author's last name, initial letter of the name(s) (year). Title of the material, if any [description of the material]. Name of the compilation if any (classification number, box number, file number or name, or other forms of classification if any). Name and location of the repository, consulted on day/month/year.

Personal or virtual interviews

The surname of the interviewee, the initial letter of the name(s) (year, day and month if possible). Personal, virtual or other type of interview with Name and Surname, available at [if available, attach link or link where the interview can be consulted], day of consultation (if the material is available on the web or any other searchable medium).

In case of non-compliance with the rules of citation and references, the article will not be accepted.
